Russian govt to consider optimization of defense spending
GORKI, Moscow Region, Jul 15 (PRIME) -- The Russian government will decide which defense spending may be cut without hurting the current goals, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a government meeting Wednesday.
“The budget is difficult, the Finance Ministry has notified the Industry and Trade Ministry, the Federal Space Agency, state corporation Rosatom and many other institutions that act as boundary partners of their maximal limits for the period of 2016–2018,” Medvedev said.
“We are to analyze what directions need additional financing again and what may be optimized. But I am stressing (that it should be done) without hurting the goals set by the president and tasks that must be fulfilled in this direction by the government.”
